3 Things to Remember on Twitter

Twitter has been around for quite a while, but it’s popularity hasn’t grown until recently. After using Twitter for the past few months, and being involved in the community, I’d like to share three pieces of advice that stem from how I aspire to use Twitter.

1. Twitter is informal.
It’s not an advertising campaign. This isn’t a magazine or billboard, it’s a live, interactive community. Connecting with people means more than increasing the number of your followers.

2. It’s a community.
Keep a real person at the helm. Scheduling tweets is a great way to help spread out your content, but be sure to interact with others in real time along the way.

3. Be original.
As much as possible, write your own content. Don’t solely look for stuff that you can just lift off another page. Create, then give back to the community.

These may seem obvious, but from what I’ve seen, they seem so prevalent. And, it really can make someone seem cold. I hope it helps us all enjoy twitter more.
