Entertain Me.

Maybe it’s recent generations, or the sheer amount of technology that we have. Perhaps, it’s the food we eat. We could even try and blame it on the country, or culture, we live in. Whatever the cause, it’s intriguing to see the amount of entertainment that exists today. Then the question arises, “Do we even need it?”

Every day on my way to work, I listen to the radio. I don’t have to though. There’s a power button that turns it off. At home on the couch, there’s a TV positioned ever so carefully so that from most angles it’s viewable. What’s more, there are shelves of books that contain some books designed for pure indulgent entertainment.

What drives this force within to seek out ways to waste time. Sure, I can justify it by saying, “Well, everyone has to rest, right?” The answer is YES! It’s commanded in Scripture. But there’s a part that the world leaves out. That part about resting in God.

Hmm. Makes me think that the Devil has quite a pretty little handle on most us. Rather than resting in God, we’re resting in worldly entertainment. Fancy that.

So maybe it’s time to evaluate what entertains us, why it does, and for how long.
