Shocker!
I've decided not to use Wordpress for my blog engine. It's just my opinion that it's become too bloated for me. Wordpress has way more functionality then I need. Not to mention that it's unzipped size is now over 10MB. That's a BIG blog!
Why Habari?
Simplicity
The backend interface is super simple. It's so easy to use that I wonder where it's been all my blogging life.
A Challenge
Don't get be wrong, Habari is great. I just decided to spread my wings and learn some new things. In all honesty, I'm really impressed with how much community support there is for this product. I've found tons of plugins that have made the process much easier.
To Stick It To The Man
Ha Ha. Yeah, I always like trying things that aren't so mainstream. I did a lot of research before picking a new blog engine and Habari seemed like a well supported, yet majorly neglected platform. So, maybe it's not all about sticking it to the man. Part of me just wants to get the word out.
Speed
As I mentioned before, Wordpress is now a bloated 10MB after it's unzipped. Habari is less than half of that. Not only that, but it's much faster when using it from the front end and back end.
Conclusion
I'm happy that Habari is now my blog platform of choice. It's serving me well, and the experience has been a great one thus far. Check out HabariProject.org to find out more.
